NEW UPDATE: We’ve gotten word what’s going on with the case:
“Another postponement. Next hearing scheduled for February 3rd. I knew she’d have a good lawyer. Postpone, postpone, postpone until it slips from people’s memories and the girl looks normal. She’ll be an adult by the time this gets to trial.”
Thanks to our reader who sent the info!

Now…the Top Case for 2008:
1. Carnation Child Starvation – In the case that shocked everyone who heard its tale, a young girl was found emaciated in her parents house, the result of two years of extreme abuse that left her looking half her age. The case got more disturbing when accounts of the rest of her family’s normal life began to emerge. Her sadistic stepmother, who led the abuse, wrote a knitting blog at the same time that she was starving her stepdaughter to the brink of death. The girl was punished for attempting to drink from the toilet due to her extreme dehydration and was sometimes given only a dixie cup of water per day. The worst part? The parents are only facing four years in prison.
Here is a blogger who did a story about Rebecca’s Knitting blog.
Here is the Seattle Crime Examiner story.
See our last post on this, Dad and Stepmonster To Be Arraigned This Morning In Seattle-area Criminal Mistreatment Case, where we’ve been updated pretty well by local people and family what is going on with the case…Jon and Rebecca are due in court Jan. 6th…Judge Cheryl Carey, Dept 2, 01-06-2009 . Stay tuned…

New info. This guy invested in a “cell phone” scam where he bought several hundred cell phones with the intent of selling them. However, he spent all this cash on these cell phones and stood by and let his OWN DAUGHTER starve almost to death. What’s more important here? Money or life? Seems to me this guy had more of an intention on money, and life was expendable. Where does it all end for us as the human race? Are “we” as humans supposed to believe that we are better than the common house pet? If this were the case, and any one of us had abused our pets, we would surely face conviction without bail. What has this country come to? I’m simply disgusted with this whole thing.
